Lawyers Improving Consultation Skills at Free Legal Aid Centers in Kyrgyzstan

On September 10-14, 2018, over 50 lawyers, attorneys, and public notaries, who provide legal consultation at Free Legal Aid Centers, are receiving a training to improve the skills for professional communication with recipients of legal services. The training is hosted by the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic, with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program and the joint project of UNDP and MFA Finland “Towards a sustainable access to justice for legal empowerment in the Kyrgyz Republic”.

In accordance with the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Law on State Guaranteed Legal Aid, Free Legal Aid Centers provide equal access to legal aid for citizens and increase the level of legal protection for vulnerable populations.

USAID, through its Collaborative Governance Program and UNDP in the KR are supporting the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic’s efforts to improve access to legal aid by establishing more of free legal aid centers and to improve the quality of services provided by the centers.
