Delegation from Tajikistan Studies Experience of Kyrgyzstan in Provision of State-Guaranteed Legal Aid

On July 24, 2019 a meeting was held in the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic between the Director of the Center for Coordination of State-Guaranteed Legal Aid under the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic (CC SGLA)  Kalbekov A. and a delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan headed by Nusratov L. The purpose of the visit of the representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan and State Institution “Legal Aid Center” under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan was to study the experience of Kyrgyzstan in implementation of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On State-Guaranteed Legal Aid”.

During the meeting the issue of provision of state-guaranteed legal aid was discussed, and the FLA CC presented the procedure of provision of legal advice and qualified legal aid, the procedure and tariffs of payment for the qualified legal aid provided by lawyers within the SGLA.

In addition, the delegation reviewed the activities of Free Legal Aid Centers under the Territorial Departments of Justice in Tokmok and Kant towns of Chui region where the employees explained the work of the Centers and specificities of the online reporting system.

The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan also took part in a work meeting with the Secretariat of the Coordination Council for interaction of the CC SGLA with non-governmental organizations and legal clinics.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on further constructive cooperation, exchange of positive experience in the SGLA area, and sustained engagement.

The visit of the delegation from Tajikistan had been organized under the support of the UNDP and MFA of Finland project “Towards a sustainable access to justice for legal empowerment in the Kyrgyz Republic”
