The Decade of Free Legal Assistance organized and hosted by the Kyrgyz Republic Ministry of Justice\u2019s Center for Coordination of State-Guaranteed Legal Aid<\/span> (<\/span>CCSGLA) will start on November 30, 2020<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The main goals of the decade include increasing the level of judicial protection for vulnerable groups; legal assistance to the population; public legal education; ensuring access to justice; advancing the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens. This decade is arranged to coincide with the Human Rights Day, which is observed on 10 December. On that day in<\/span> 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of the decade, Free Legal Aid Centers under territorial units of the Ministry of Justice, state notary offices, coordinators of state-guaranteed legal aid,<\/span> employees of other government agencies, and a number of non-profit organizations dealing with legal assistance provision, the Coordination Council members, as well as the National SGLA network and legal clinics under Universities will<\/span> provide free legal assistance and consultations throughout the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

We would like to note that the decade will be arranged in partnership with the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs-UNDP project “Towards sustainable access to justice in the Kyrgyz Republic”, the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan, European Union Program \u201cRule of Law in the Kyrgyz Republic – the 2nd phase\u201d implemented by the<\/span> German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
